Product template: Enable swipe on main image / display arrows for next and previous image over the featured image (Both mobile and desktop)#333

My client asked for forward/back navigation arrows to supplement the thumbnails within the product media gallery. I modified the theme to add this functionality but I would much prefer a native option built-into the theme to achieve this.
