Cart: Implement a feature that allows customers to easily return to the last product they viewed before adding it to the cart#383

Currently, when a customer adds a product to the cart, they are redirected to the cart page without an easy way to return to the product they were viewing. This can disrupt the shopping flow, especially if the customer wishes to continue browsing or review product details.

Proposed Solution: Introduce a “Continue Shopping” button on the cart page that redirects the customer to the last product page they visited. This button should:

Utilize existing theme styles to maintain design consistency.

Retrieve the last viewed product URL from local storage.

Be conditionally displayed only if a last viewed product exists.

Use the existing translation key general.continue_shopping for its label to support localization.

Benefits:

Enhances user experience by allowing easy navigation back to product pages.

Encourages continued shopping, potentially increasing average order value.

Maintains consistency with existing theme styles and translation mechanisms.

Our developers have reviewed this request, and at this time we don’t plan to implement a “return to product” button on the cart page.

The cart already displays product cards that link back to their pages, and customers can also use their browser’s back button to return to the previous product page to review details, from there, customers can go back to the former viewed collection to continue shopping.

With these options in place, we believe the current setup already supports this flow without the need for an additional button.
